SANDERS BEACH - CORINNE JONES COMMUNITY CENTER

  • A Community Building Built to Last

AWARDS
  • AIA Florida Northwest                            Award for Outstanding Achievement

The Sanders Beach Community Center project consists of approx. 18,000 sq. ft. of new construction, a parking lot for 140 cars, driveways, and sidewalks. The new building was constructed so that its lowest structural component is higher than the FEMA base flood elevation. This results in a finished floor elevation of about 8 feet above the pre-existing grades. The building is supported by over one-hundred 75' deep concrete pilings which will allow the building to maintain its structural integrity even if flood waters wash away the subgrade below the floor slab. The building program included a ballroom and stage, a kitchen, fitness room, locker areas, game room, lounge area, offices, lobby, crafts room and meeting rooms. In 2009 the building was recognized by AIA Florida Northwest with an Award of Excellence for new construction.
